    PEOPIL Annual Conference 2014 (Vienna, Austria): Presentation on the ILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006

    Silina Pavlakis chaired the session on “Seaman Claims & Maritime Accidents” at the Vienna Annual Conference of Pan – European Organization of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) on “Personal Injury in Times of Change”. Ioannis Pavlakis participated as a speaker at the conference with a presentation on the International Maritime Labour Organization Maritime Labour Convention 2006, which came into force on August 20, 2013. The respective presentation entitled “Seaman Claims & Maritime Accidents: The ILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006 in Practice” is available in PowerPoint format, whereas the relevant analytic paper prepared for the conference participants by Ioannis Pavlakis and Silina Pavlakis, also entitled  “Seaman Claims & Maritime Accidents: TheILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006 in Practice” is available in pdf format.

    Malaysia Airlines Flight 37 (MH370) crash

    An unprecedented international search operation for flight MH370 remains in process at this time. An official investigation into the disappearance of flight MH370 will be conducted in accordance with international law (Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention). Meanwhile, there will continue to be much speculation as to the causes of the loss of the aircraft, not all of which will be well informed, impartial, or objective.

    The information thus far released regarding the aircraft’s route, transmissions and performance has been limited and sometimes contradictory.

    TATARSTAN Airlines BOEING 737-53A flight U9363 crash Kazan, Russia, 2013

    On November 17, 2013 the Boeing 737-53A operated by Tatarstan Airlines crashed in Kazan, Russia while trying to land killing all 50 passengers and crew aboard. Our firm has been retained by the families of 17 deceased passengers and crewmembers in actions against both manufacturers BOEING, owners and lessors AWAS and operator Tatarstan Airlines.
