{"id":1407,"date":"2015-05-24T17:50:24","date_gmt":"2015-05-24T17:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pavlakis-moschos.gr\/?p=1407"},"modified":"2022-03-09T12:06:34","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T12:06:34","slug":"technical-investigation-onboard-norman-atlantic-will-start-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pavlakis-moschos.gr\/en\/technical-investigation-onboard-norman-atlantic-will-start-11\/","title":{"rendered":"NORMAN ATLANTIC: On June 11 2015 the experts appointed by the Judge will board the Norman Atlantic and start the on-site investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">On 22 May 2015 a preliminary session, part of the criminal proceedings for the fire onboard the NORMAN ATLANTIC, has been held in Bari, presided by the competent Italian Judge, Dr.ssa Piliego.\u00a0During this session (a) the victims\/passengers and bereaved families have been officially announced, as represented by their proxy lawyers, (b) the technical experts have been appointed and (c) they have been assigned with specific questions that have to be answered in the technical report on the causes and circumstances of the incident.\u00a0Our team of lawyers has been present and participated\u00a0with both Greek and Italian representatives\u00a0in the court session and we have officially appointed our technical experts, who were also present from Italy and Norway.\u00a0We have successfully suggested further issues to be assigned on the court experts. The Judge ordered that the technical experts board the vessel for the first time\u00a0<strong>on the 11th June for on-site investigation<\/strong>.\u00a0In preparation for this, the stern door\/ramp will be unlocked by a company selected by the Judge starting <strong>from Monday the 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of May<\/strong>. Our technical experts will participate\u00a0at the 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June session (and following days). Until that date the ship will remain in the port of Bari\u00a0in the same exact conditions\u00a0as it is since it arrived towed from Brindisi and as it remains since the accident.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pavlakis-moschos.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Photo-S.-Pavlakis-Technical-Expert-230515.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1401 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/pavlakis-moschos.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Photo-S.-Pavlakis-Technical-Expert-230515-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Photo S. Pavlakis &amp; Technical Expert - 230515\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There are indications that a number of vehicles stored in the lower garages of the ship\u00a0(1 and 2) may have not sustained considerable damage. When the lower garages will be opened, which will happen later, in the course of the investigation by the court\u2019s experts, these cars will have to be technically examined, before decisions can be made whether they are usable or not and whether their owners will decide to accept them back or treat\u00a0them as total losses.\u00a0Our team of lawyers has already selected one expert to serve such needs as soon as it will be permitted either by the Judge and by environmental situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Any news and statements recently spread in the press or on the internet that cars have been\u00a0already\u00a0removed and are stored in the port of Bari, which caused great anxiety between our principals, are completely false and we wonder what purpose they were serving.
