Greek and foreign workers and employees who suffer personal injury due to an accident in the course of their employment or in connection with their work, resulting to their temporary or permanent disability, may be entitled under Greek law to:

  • health care and medical benefits,
  • pension from the National Security Fund (IKA) in cases of permanent disability and additionally
  • compensation for their pain and suffering and mental anguish from their employer, when fault/negligence for the accident can be established.

If the labor accident results to loss of life, the family of the deceased worker/employee is entitled to the above, irrespective of their nationality, their permanent residence is in Greece not being a prerequisite.

Fatal injury of worker in a fish-farm enterprise on the island of Rhodes, Greece

An Egyptian worker, working at a fish-farm enterprise based on the island of Rhodes was fatally injured in the course of his employment when a fish-feed carrying truck capsized. The case was judicially pursued by our firm before the competent Civil Courts of Rhodes, and the widow, minor children, and siblings of the deceased worker received substantial amounts as compensation, as it was proven before the Court that the fatal accident had been the result of lack of safety measures at the fish-farm enterprise.

Death of super market employee due to electrocution on the island of Karpathos, Greece

A foreign employee received an electric shock which resulted to severe injury of his intestine, whilst operating a cold cut slicer machine at a super market based on the island of Karpathos, Aegean Sea, Greece. The employee died later in hospital. Our firm proved before the competent Courts of Rhodes that the accident had been the result of lack of maintenance of the cold cut slicermachine wiring by the super market owners. Both the Rhodes Court of First Instance and the Rhodes Court of Appeal awarded to the family of the deceased employee (widow, child and siblings) compensation for the death of their relative due to the negligence of the directors of the super market.

Fatal injury of worker by truck on the island of Karpathos, Greece

A foreign worker was fatally injured when he was crashed by a truck in the course of his employment on the island of Karpathos, Aegean Sea, Greece. Our firm filed a compensation lawsuit with the competent Civil Court of First Instance of Rhodes, and the Court awarded compensation to the widow and children of the fatally injured worker due to the negligence of the driver of the truck.

Fatal injury of construction worker due to fall from height in Athens

A foreign construction worker was fatally injured when he fell from a scaffold at a public building renovation site in the centre of Athens. Our firm filed a compensation lawsuit with the Civil Courts of Athens for breach of safety regulations by the renovation contractor. The widows, five children and siblings of the deceased construction worker received compensation for the death of their relative following an out of court settlement of the case.

Death of construction worker due to electrocution in Volos, Greece

A construction worker suffered an electric shock and died at a residential building construction site in the city centre of Volos. The worker touched a metal ladder that had become energized through contact with electrical wiring that had not been adequately insulated. The family of the deceased construction worker received compensation of the death of their relative, as it was proven that the fatal accident had been the result of breach of electrical safety regulations at the construction site.
